Dr Rebecca Golden-Timsar

Dr. Rebecca Golden Timsar is an advisory board member of the West African Transitional Justice Centre and the Learning and Development Coordinator of the Speaking Out Case Studies Project at Médecins sans Frontières (MSF). She obtained her  PhD in anthropology from Tulane University. She was  an Associate Director at the Global Energy, Development, and Sustainability Graduate Certificate Program at the University of Houston, USA. Her research interests include gender, violence, youth, oil, religion, and contemporary African society. Rebecca was a Fulbright Scholar during the dissertation research (2005-6). Prior to earning her PhD, she worked as Head of Mission for Médecins sans Frontières/MSF (Doctors without Borders) for ten years in Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and India. She was a member the MSF USA Board of Directors (2007-2010) and currently serves on the Board of Directors for Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast. Rebecca holds a Master’s of Arts in Anthropology from Tulane University, a Master’s of International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management, and a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin.
