Professor Sola Olorunyomi is a Research Professor of Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies, and the Director of the Institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan. He obtained his PhD in African Literature from the same university and his specialization covers textual and narrative structures of literary and performance cultures, covering oral and manuscript, print and electronic, film and new media in Africa and the Black Diaspora. His recent interventions in Futures Studies as posited in the concept of “Wombiture” interrogates the social implications of technology, specifically regarding the potentials and limits of the literary profession.
He was also a former Director of the University Media Centre; as well as former Postgraduate Sub-Dean, IAS-UI. He is well-published in local and international outlets, and has participated over the decades in conferences and seminars across Africa and the Black Diaspora, including Nigeria, Ghana, Benin Republic, Burkina Faso, Senegal, South Africa, Brazil, to mention a few. He has also participated in seminars under the auspices of Free Muse, Copenhagen-Denmark, Salzburg Global Seminar, Salzburg-Austria; WIU, Macomb-Illinois, USA, among others
